Hessle

Hessle is a delightful small town boasting charm and character in abundance. Five miles west of Hull city centre, its waterside location on the River Humber’s north bank sees it gifted with stunning views of The Humber Bridge. Lots of independent shops can be found dotted around the centre, and the Humber Bridge Country Park is a nearby 21-hectare wildlife haven. Day-long summer celebration Hessle Feast, featuring food, drink and live music, is an added bonus.

Beverley

The Sunday Times recently listed Beverley as one of the Top 10 places to live in the north…and it’s easy to see why. This market town, eight miles north of Hull, offers a fine selection of restaurants, acres of luscious green expanse, a thriving retail centre, and of course, Beverley Racecourse. With something for the all family, moving to this quaint market town is anything but a gamble. It truly is one of the best places to live in Hull.

Cottingham

Did you know that Cottingham claims to be the largest village in England in terms of population? While this may be open to debate — what isn’t — it’s a captivating heritage that makes it exceptionally attractive to newcomers.

Cottingham was founded by the Anglo Saxons, thus is a location steeped in history with charming cafes and restaurants, as well as two main shopping streets lined with locally owned stores.

Hugely popular with commuters – it’s located four miles north of Hull and has direct trains to London each weekday – there is also a diverse mix of housing to suit all tastes.

The Avenues

Widely considered by many to be the cultural heartbeat of Hull, the Avenues area is a hive of activity, with bustling bars and top-rated restaurants, backed by excellent transport links, making it a desirable location for young professionals.

What makes the area truly unique is how the touch of contemporary blends so effortlessly with the stunning bygone feel of wide tree-lined streets, and grand Victorian era houses.

Victoria Dock

This relatively new residential area continues to grow in popularity with tenants and homeowners. Merging city life with stunning rural surroundings, Victoria Dock is community and character all rolled into one. A short walk from Hull centre, and the marina, the urban village location – complete with its own primary school – is perfect for work, play and family…and those views across the River Humber are truly something to behold.

Kingswood

North of the city, the ever-expanding Kingswood combines tranquil, suburban living with its very own bustling community spirit. The nearby retail park, boasting shopping outlets, cinema, bowling alley and restaurants, is a firm favourite with families, as is the quaint village centre. State-of-the-art Kingswood Parks Primary School boasts a ‘good’ Ofsted rating, with places for more than 500 children available.

Willerby

A picturesque, outlying commuter village to the west of Hull, Willerby is surrounded by some of the region’s finest schools. Amenities are close at hand courtesy of Willerby Shopping Park, while the village’s location, right next to the A164, means homeowners are afforded easy access to Hull city centre and the wider East Yorkshire region.

Anlaby

A small village with a big heart. Anlaby and its then population of 18.4 households was actually mentioned in the 1086 Domesday Book. Steeped in history, the area has stood the test of time, growing into a popular western hull suburb that’s home to a shopping centre, retail park and Haltemprice Leisure Centre. Perfect for those who like a swim after a spot of shopping.

Kirk Ella and West Ella

Two villages for the price of one. The Ella villages are located next to each other, five miles to the west of Hull. Both share similar attributes to close-by Anlaby and Willerby, including some of the best schools in the region. Excellent transport links into Hull centre and the wider region make it an ideal location for commuters, while the diverse range of developments have seen the village evolve into a prosperous suburb with something for all house hunters. Stunning countryside walks are only a stone’s throw away, too.
